The old man straightened from his stooped posture and eased his aching back. He had spent many long hours bent over the wooden bench before him. The top of the workbench was cluttered with moldering manuscripts and a wild profusion of jars and bottles whose noisome contents were revealed by the flickering light of a single greasy candle.
The alchemist, for such was the old man's profession, sighed and bent once again. Taking up a small iron spatula, he returned to his labor, coating a large lump of coal with the sticky yellow paste he had worked

The winter Olympics had yet to begin and Russia already felt the pain of the jabs that were being thrown at him. He had had to endure everyone criticizing his policies, his government, and his preparation. Prussia walked slowly across the room. He didn't recognize the room but it didn't seem important enough to stop. The only light in the room came from outside, where the night glowed. A fierce snowstorm raged outside of the windows and obscured any view of the scenery beyond.
Prussia only spared a moment to look out the window before continuing to walk across the room. He wasn't sure why he was walking; all he knew was that he must. His destination came into sight, or at least it seemed so. On the opposite wall, the one he was walking towards, there was a full length mirror. He walked straight up to the mirror and stared at his reflections.
